Diving into the Certina DS Action Diver Full Black 43mm Watch

The sleek black silhouette of the new DS Action Diver Full Black 43mm watch from Certina is perfect for adventures underwater and on dry land and comes with a quick-drying black NATO material strap crafted from #tide ocean material®.

Certina always fulfils its promise of providing a vast selection of DS Action watches and DS PH watches, with a slew of watch releases during the peak season every year. To name just a few, there was the recent DS PH500M model with a vibrant orange dial and black surrounding unidirectional rotating bezel, as well as the DS PH200M model, a descendant of the legendary 1967 PH200M. But more on that another time. Today, we're looking at the new DS Action Diver watch reference C032.607.38.051.00. Before we get too much into that, let’s provide you with a brief introduction of Certina the brand and how it came to be such a leader in the world of horology.

Who is Certina?

For over 60 years, Certina has been manufacturing wristwatches to standards that meet the highest demands. The DS concept was initiated in 1959 and has been adapted over the years to reflect the latest innovations in technical standards. The DS concept has not only been enjoyed by professional skiers, however. Daring explorers, deep-sea divers and mountaineers have all relied upon the robustness and durability of a Certina DS watch case. Each watch undergoes extensive strength tests before proving itself an ideal companion for all eventualities. To pass as a DS watch, a Certina model must offer anti-magnetism properties in the form of Nivachron movement components and a suitable level of water resistance that simultaneously says something about the overall design of the watch - not just its use as a diving companion. A DS watch must also promise longevity on the wrist. The turtle symbol has become synonymous with this quality in a Certina watch since as early as the 1960s. The watch must also protect the internally fitted movement, which controls the accuracy of time from the impacts of shock. This quality in a Certina watch goes hand-in-hand with values of robustness, making every timepiece a confident companion for every demanding situation.

The new Certina DS Action Diver Full Black 43mm model

First thing is first – you don’t have to be an expert diver to fully appreciate the qualities and features of the new DS action Diver Full Black 43mm watch from Certina. The model is clothed entirely in black, emanating a robust, bold and masculine style on the wrist. Whilst it is certainly geared for daring underwater depths thanks to its impressive 300-meter water resistance and a whole host of other diver-friendly features, it is also perfectly equipped to withstand the rigours of harsh everyday wear, extreme exploration pursuits and everyday adventures. Its contemporary style is perfect for pairing with smart-casual attire with luminous accents on the dial and bezel that bring the dive watch to life come the later hours of the evening (or, of course, when exploring underwater).

The new Certina DS Action Diver Full Black watch is crafted from stainless steel and has been adorned with a super sleek black DLC coating on its surface. The watch is topped with a unidirectional rotating bezel in matte black ceramic, which serves as a perfect background for a legible 60-minute dive scale. The numerals on the scale have also received a touch of lacquer. Further adding to its appeal as a robust diver’s watch, the DS Action Diver watch is fitted on a black NATO fabric strap made from #tide ocean material®. The recycled material strap is crafted from 100% ocean-bound plastic in a bid to reduce plastic waste in the seas and raise awareness of the importance of ocean conservation. The black material strap, which not only looks incredibly stylish is also quick drying for dipping in and out of the water and secures to the underside of the wrist with a pin buckle crafted from stainless steel with a black PVD-coating to match the colour of the rest of the watch.

Whether you are snorkelling in the tropics, taking a dip in an Alpine lake or plunging into the swimming pool on vacation, the Certina DS Action Diver Full Black 43mm model is perfect for assisting you with qualities of robustness, precision and reliability. It is fitted with the Powermatic 80 movement with automatic winding, which sits securely inside a structure that meets the demanding requirements of ISO standard 6425. Aside from a unidirectional rotating bezel that can be aligned with the central minute hand for measuring elapsed time underwater, the watch also features a screw-in caseback and screw-down crown, not to mention a construction approved by Certina’s very own DS (Double Security) concept.

You can venture down to 300 meters underwater with the new Certina DS Action Diver Full Black watch secured comfortably to the wrist. The movement’s Nivachron hairspring protects the watch against magnetic fields, whereas the Super-LumiNova-coated hour markers sit against a black lacquered dial for uncompromised legibility. The central arrow-tipped hour hand and straight minute hand have also been treated with the same luminous material and accompany a date window at 3 o’clock, dressed against a white background. To finish, the watch is topped with a piece of anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass front that protects the surface of the dial from damage incurred either on dry land or underwater.
